What’s new in ISS Vanguard v1.5.6

ISS Vanguard v1.5.6 — Map Controls and Refueling Fixes

- Preserve tile clicks and taps by capturing the pointer only after movement
reaches the drag threshold. Suppress accidental tile activation after a drag.
Ignore secondary buttons and pointers; clean up canceled gestures, lost
capture, and releases outside the map. Save tile selection and completed pans.
- Require enough capacity for the full fuel transfer before spending supplies
or exhausting a deposit. Disable unavailable transfers with explanatory
tooltips. Enforce planetary-deposit and synthesizer prerequisites.
- Solar Collection remains a full turn action at maximum fuel, including crew
recovery and upkeep. Its interface and log correctly report zero added fuel.
- Render selected-region details from the current game state after actions,
travel, reload, and campaign restart. Keep harvesting available on explored
resource hexes while disabling depleted or capacity-blocked deposits.
- Synchronize reduced-motion styling with the current setting on campaign
start, load, boot, and toggle. A new campaign resets both to Standard.
- Refresh release metadata and JavaScript/CSS cache keys to v1.5.6.
Existing saves remain compatible with schema 7.

VALIDATION
115 regression checks passed, including all prior 92 checks and 23 new checks.
The suite uses simulated DOM, storage, timers, audio, and pointer dispatch.
Pointer tests model capture and click targeting for mouse and touch input.
Browser visual and speaker-output testing were unavailable.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.5 — Campaign Recovery and Upgrade Fixes

- Refresh JavaScript and CSS cache keys for v1.5.5 so an in-place update requests
the current engine and styles.
- Basic Medical Bay care stabilizes one incapacitated crew member to 1 HP per
turn without a resource cost. Medical Nanobots continue to heal every wounded
member by 1 HP instead. End Turn and Solar Collection both apply recovery.
- Require a conscious crew member for surface exploration. Keep a conscious
selection; otherwise assign a conscious substitute, preferring Recon skill.
If none are conscious, block the roll and explain how to recover.
- Retreat and Abandon Camp remove at most 1 progress from an unfinished mission.
Prefer the selected eligible mission, then the first eligible mission.
Completed missions, recorded rewards, and completed planets remain intact.
- Restore mission completion on load when existing reward or planet-completion
records prove an older retreat incorrectly reduced progress. Do not repeat
mission or chapter rewards. Save schema remains 7.
- Refresh the mission workspace immediately when crew selection changes.
- Update the tutorial and recovery guidance to match the current controls.

VALIDATION
92 engine regression checks passed (node tests/regression.cjs), including the
previous 74 checks and 18 new recovery, exploration, completion, selection,
and cache-key checks. DOM, storage, timers, and audio interfaces are simulated.
Browser visual and speaker-output testing were unavailable.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.4 — Crew Eligibility and Audio Fixes

- Require a conscious crew member for encounter rolls and field responses.
Respect a conscious selection; otherwise assign a conscious substitute,
preferring the relevant skill. Validate eligibility before charging costs.
- Do not award encounter XP to incapacitated crew. If a responder is incapacitated
by the encounter, that responder receives no encounter XP.
- Apply crew wounds to the selected conscious member or another conscious member.
Additional wounds continue onto conscious crew instead of disappearing.
- Offer withdrawal without rewards when all crew are incapacitated so that a
pending encounter cannot block turn advancement or medical recovery.
- Recommend only conscious, qualified crew with actions remaining. Explain
exhaustion, missing skills, supply shortages, and pending encounter blockers.
- Treat volume zero as silence. A shared audio output control mutes active sounds
immediately, respects Audio Off, and restores the saved volume after loading.
- Preserve save schema 7, the new cover, and all previous campaign fixes.

VALIDATION
74 engine regression checks passed (node tests/regression.cjs).
The suite simulates DOM, storage, timers, and audio nodes. Browser visual and
speaker-output testing were unavailable.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.3 — Encounter and Turn Fixes

- Separate forced losses from purchases. Morale penalties now reduce the remaining
balance to zero, trigger defeat when appropriate, and never create negatives.
- Allow one encounter per turn. Save the pending card and resolved status so that
closing, reloading, or traveling cannot reroll a card or repeat its rewards.
- Add Resume Event controls and block campaign actions until a pending encounter
is resolved. All encounter cards retain at least one response without payment.
- Enforce listed Fuel, Supply, and Intel costs before a response resolves.
Unaffordable choices preserve the encounter and leave other responses usable.
- Charge Emergency Thrusters exactly once; prevent failed escape attempts from
disabling the remaining encounter choices.
- Route solar collection through the shared turn routine: action reset, healing,
morale upkeep, encounter reset, and six-turn rollover. Solar collection provides
a net +1 Fuel in place of the ordinary turn's fuel burn.
- Normalize oversized turn counters from older solar-collection saves without
reducing elapsed time. Migrate saves to schema 7.
- Preserve existing campaign fixes, mission rewards, cover artwork, and title screen.

VALIDATION
58 engine regression checks passed (node tests/regression.cjs).
The suite uses simulated DOM, storage, and timers; visual browser QA was unavailable.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.2 — Campaign Reliability Fixes

- Autosave mission attempts, research purchases, technology unlocks, event outcomes,
surface scans, and exploration, including nonfatal consequences.
- Prevent Star Map clicks on the current planet from spending fuel or resetting
missions, exploration, and harvested deposits.
- End the campaign immediately when hull or morale reaches zero. Lock gameplay
after victory or defeat and preserve the result for viewing after reload.
- Award all 16 missions' listed rewards once, including research, section repair,
ship upgrades, resource grants, and named discoveries in the Star Map archive.
- Recover missing mission rewards from earlier saves once. Resource caps apply.
- Require and deduct one supply before a valid mission roll. Zero supplies block
the attempt without consuming an action.
- Restore pending skill training after loading. Add a Training button for upgrades
postponed by closing the dialog. Resume blocked training after other dialogs.
- Migrate previous saves to schema 6 while retaining progress and existing unlocks.
- Preserve the new cover artwork and responsive title screen from v1.5.1.

VALIDATION
35 engine regression checks passed (node tests/regression.cjs).
The suite uses simulated DOM, storage, and timers; visual browser QA was unavailable.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.1 — New Cover

- Replaced the catalog cover with the new ISS Vanguard expedition artwork.
- Added the full portrait cover to the title screen beside the campaign menu.
- Added a responsive stacked title layout for smaller displays.
- Displayed v1.5.1 beside the title and in the game header.
- Updated package release metadata and documentation version labels.
- Gameplay code and the existing save format are unchanged.

ISS Vanguard v1.5.0
- Reorganized Bridge into a primary mission workspace with a stacked command sidebar.
- Moved ship status, crew, mission log, research, and quick actions into a clearer secondary hierarchy.
- Expanded the central mission area and reduced competing side-column width.
- Added compact resource and crew layouts in the command sidebar.
- Improved responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and narrow screens.
- Made the game header and mission context remain visible while scrolling.
